56th IEC AND 19th ICID CONGRESS

WORKSHOP ON DRAINFRAME AND ITS PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS Beijing, September 13, 2005

The Working Group on Drainage of ICID in cooperation with the Agricultural and Rural Development of the World Bank will hold a half-day workshop during the 56th IEC and 19th ICID congress at Beijing on the Integrated Approach DRAINFRAME and the recent experiences with its applications in practices. The DRAINFRAME looks at drainage from an integrated water resources management perspective and follows a participatory approach in analyses and planning. Speakers, from Australia, Egypt, and Pakistan will present their countries experience with respect to using DRAINFRAME in their respective countries (provisional programme). A Panel of experts will discuss the prospects of promoting the integrated approach DRAINFRAME further within the ICID member countries to scale-up drainage practices for sustainable development, growth, and poverty reduction.
